We designed the Carstensz Pyramid helicopter for you, particularly if you have a very limited travel time. We can arrange helicopter transfer from Timika to the base camp of Yellow Valley, under the Carstensz wall. You can acclimatise yourself in the basecamp before ascending the Carstensz Pyramid. It takes around 10-12 hours to have a round trip from the basecamp to the top of Carstensz Pyramid.
To ease your international flight booking, we organise pick up and drop off service in Bali (DPS) /Jakarta (CGK) airport. Please check our 2022 Expeditions schedule, too!
Project Itinerary
Day 1 : Ariival in Timika
- Our team will meet and greet you in the airport
- Transfer to your hotel and take a rest
Day 2 : Preparation / Gear Check
- After breakfast we will check your gear. We will going to the immigration office and take a picture.
- Going to supermarket if needed
- Overnight at hotel
Day 3 : Timika – Yellow Valley Base Camp
- Morning call 05.00 am, breakfast and go to airport at 06.00 am
- Fly to Carstensz base camp early in the morning . A flight with helicopter to the yellow valley base camp (4.250m) it’s about 30 minute ride.
- Free time while you’re acclimatising yourself in the base camp.
- Walk arround base camp, going up to the middle ridge for a better acclimatisation.
- Overnight by camping in base camp.
Day 4 : Acclimatisation and Rope training
- Second acclimatisation. We’ll do some training on the rope after breakfast.
- Sleeping, reading in the dining tent, walk around basecamp, whatever you do, get hydrated!
- Briefing about summit plan while dinner.
- Overnight by camping in base camp.
Day 5 : Summit Push
- Start to the summit at 2 am (depend on the weather situation). This will be a long and challenging day of 10-12 hours round trip.
- You will be carrying a very light backpack (water, snacks, some clothing, camera)
- Overnight by camping in base camp.
Day 6 : Base Camp – Timika
- Pick up service by helicopter (prepare packing in the morning, be ready in dining tent at 06.15 am) usually helicopter will pick up at 06.30 am if the weather is good.
- On your arrival in Timika, you’ll be transferred to your hotel or Connecting flight to Bali if possible.
- Overnight in Timika.
Day 7 : Departure to Bali/Jakarta
- After breakfast, check out and drive to the Timika airport.
- Take a direct flight to Bali; operated by Garuda Indonesia.
Departure at 11:20am.
Day 8 – 10 : Extra day
- Sometimes we need more than 3 days, depend on the real situation / weather conditions.
Day 11 : Departure Home

Service does not include :
- Domestic flight from Bali/Jakarta to Timika (TIM). (we can arrange with $550 round trip)
- Visa (check immigration) Right now due to covid19 spread, there is no arrival visa.
- Personal equipments for climbing
- Personal insurance & cost for emergency evacuation (make sure your insurance cover Force Majeure)
- Personal expenses (laundry, phone call, mini bar in the hotel).
- Your meals in Timika
- Costs for delays or extending a trip due to bad wheater or orther circumstances
- Costs associated with you leaving an expedition early
- Costs associated with an expedition finishing early
- Gratuity for guide and field assistants.
Payment
Carstensz Pyramid Expeditions cost by Helicopter is (please contact us) minimum 5 person. Please check our 2022 Expeditions schedule to book your tent.
Terms of payment
- 2.000 USD deposit is required for secure your booking.
- Balance due 45 days prior to departure date.
- If you would like to pay with Credit Card or PayPal, a 4% surcharge will be added to your balance. We would kindly advise you to compare the transfer fee between bank transfer and PayPal/credit card payment.
